The incredible, beautiful, functional, amazing king of all home theatre projectors: Optoma’s GT1080. A projector that has it all is under $1000, has multiple HDMI ports with MHL compatibility, at least 25,000:1 contrast ratio, all digital components, and most importantly can draw a 100 inch image from less than 4 feet away. Throw in DLP, 3D tech, and a minimal refresh rate optimized for gamers and you have nothing but a dream. Or do you? We found the GT1080 actually fits the bill. We would expect to pay nearly $2000 for a projector this good yet they pulled it off for an affordable price. Unless you need portability, ie. a hand-held, then there is just no reason to look beyond this. We found the image was crisp, the colors amazing, the blacks were black and the whites were bright white. Thanks to 2800 lumens and some impressive digital insides this projector can pump out 1920×1200 via a TI DLP chip that makes other projectors self-conscious.
