Top 5 Free Fraps Alternatives
Online gaming and video capturing are one of the hottest trends today especially on YouTube as you can use it to make your own money. Whooaa…. Why?
Not only does it give you the fun to do it but when you do it right and make that video popular on YouTube, you make money! So lots of software are available ranging from paid to shareware to freeware and some just can’t afford to pay for something so lots have been looking for freeware that can almost do the same thing with paid ones.
Of the paid ones, Fraps is one of the most popular for capturing gaming BUT it’s limited with its functionality especially when only subscribed to the free version, so there’s other software right now which are thought to be free yet are better alternatives to Fraps. Let’s look at the Top 5 Free Fraps alternatives
First of is
Ezvid – is a freeware screen recorder for Windows that is considered to be one of the easiest software to use. Being able to record sound simultaneously is being developed now but overall, Ezvid is perfect being a screencast maker. Talking about functionality and capability, Ezvid can capture screen in real-time. It captures the whole screen recorder and able to edit the captured screen right away without even using another software to edit the captured video. In short, it has video editing function integrated. It also supports instant sharing to YouTube. With just one click of a button, your video is being uploaded to YouTube without the need to convert in a video format that YouTube supports.
Another great feature of Ezvid is the ability to add music that is copyright-clean. So when you capture video, you can add a background music which do not override your audio. You can adjust the volume so it just serves as a nice piece of background.
Plus, it has the ability to add audio after recording. So when you’re done capturing the video, you can actually describe your gameplay by making a voice commentary and to do that is very easy. You just simply click the “record voice” on Ezvid and it starts recording your audio or voice.
It’s surely being created and developed to satisfy user’s needs and a great Fraps alternative for you all.

- 1gb ram
- 5gb free hard drive space
- DirectX 9.0 support
CamStudio – is another freeware screen recorder that can record screen and audio simultaneously and produces AVI or SWF files as video output. Features of CamStudio includes creating demo videos, video tutorials for school or college class, or it can be used to record a recurring problem with one’s computer and lots more.
However, CamStudio has some features they don’t currently support right now. You cannot find a zoom feature in its program or a huge variety of compressors or video file types, and even a video editor in the free CamStudio 2.5 for trimming, optimizing, enhancing, and splicing a video. It only produces a small screencast app that records your PC in AVI and SWF (Flash) formats. And the worst thing, it leaves a watermark!
So if you are into something other than free screen recording, this is something you can consider but if you are into something more than just free screen recording, then might as well consider another.

HyperCam – a product of Hyperionics, a freeware screen recording software which is also capable of recording sound from any region of your screen. You have the option to customize the area you want to capture and save it to standard .AVI movie files.
While HyperCam captures cursor movements, menus selections, windows popping up, and allow you to pan the recorded area around the screen, it does not have the editing functionality integrated on its program. Also, the video output is so limited to AVI output only plus quality isn’t that good – when uploaded on YouTube it becomes pixelated and blurry. It also lags when recording gameplay video especially when used with higher version of Windows such as Vista or 7.

Debut Video Recording Software
Debut Video Recording Software – is unfortunately not a freeware video capture software for Windows. What it does is it captures video from webcam, device or computer screen. It can capture video and saves to your hard drive in various video formats including .avi, .wmv, .flv, .asf .mpg, .3gp, .mp4, .mov. It is also capable of recording video and audio simultaneously plus able to adjust the video resolution, size and frame rate for capture

Free Screen Recorder
Free Screen Recorder – a product of NBXSoft has the ability to record your desktop screen and any activity that happens on your screen and then saves it as a video file. It records cursor movements and everything that takes place in a given region being recorded. User has the option to either capture customized area or record entire area of the screen. Well, it is a useful tool for creating video tutorials, game videos, and demo videos.
However, though it’s thought to be free but after using it about 5 times, it asks for a registration code and so to do this one has to pay $25.00 so it’s a total freeware at all. And has no editing functionality like Ezvid. So it’s still good being a screen recorder but as far as versatility and quality, free screen recorder lacks it.
