The 10 Best Ceiling Fans Without Lights

Updated January 25, 2021 by Daniel Imperiale

This wiki has been updated 20 times since it was first published in April of 2017. When things heat up, ceiling fans are an efficient way to keep temperatures tolerable. They circulate the air both indoors and out, providing a refreshing breeze, running quietly, and costing considerably less than air conditioners. Our selections are available in a wide variety of designs to complement any decor, and we've ranked them here by their style, circulation power, and easy of use. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

January 25, 2021:

The truth is that most fans work pretty well these days. Sure, some provide more air flow than others, but if you are buying a model from a reputable brand, like those exemplified here, then there is really very little need to worry about them malfunctioning. So, after a consideration of airflow, choosing a model that fits your needs will mostly come down to stylistic preferences. And, since there isn't really a lot of innovation going on from year to year in lightless ceiling fans (we are beginning to see some Alexa-compatible models in those with lights), we didn't feel the need to replace any of our current recommendations. All have continued to function reliably, and we still have a nice wide variety of various styles represented here.

Hunter seems to be the brand to beat in this category, and their Bayview 54 took a big leap forward in our selection, as its plastic blades, originally thought to be something of a downer, turned out to perform exceptionally well and to holdup in a variety of environments. It also doesn't hurt that they're reversible design offers two slightly different aesthetics depending one where you hang them. Some of the more industrial style options like the Westinghosue entry slipped a bit, either due to a lack of certain modern features or because of stability issues related to their size. It's also important to note that they don't offer as much use for homeowners, who make up the majority of this list's demographic.
